I decided to visit Zulia’s Kitchen, a Venezuelan restaurant I always see advertised in a Facebook group, and what a delicious experience it was!

I ordered the famous patacón, an explosion of flavor that includes fried plantain, shredded beef brisket, ham, white cheese, coleslaw, Parmesan cheese, a touch of mustard, ketchup, and homemade mayonnaise with garlic and cilantro. I had never tried it before and I loved it.

I also tried a cheese empanada that was divine, especially with their “top secret” green sauce that gives it the perfect touch. On previous visits, I had already enjoyed the arepa de pabellón and the pavilion dish, very similar to Cuban ropa vieja but with its own unique Venezuelan flavor.

To top it off, I treated myself to a delicious Venezuelan flan. 😋

The place was packed, and the atmosphere made me feel like I was in a city in Venezuela. The service was excellent, the employees are very friendly, and the warmth is felt from the moment you walk in.

I had the pleasure of talking with the owner, Morielys Díaz, who told me how she and her husband, Delays Yaraure, started with a food truck before opening the restaurant. Their customers come from all over: Venezuelans, Cubans, Colombians, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, and Americans.

📍And by the way… they want to expand to Alamo Ranch soon!

If you’ve never tried Venezuelan food, I highly recommend checking out Zulia’s Kitchen. You won’t regret it!
